If you have blonde hair or any other hair color, the first thing you need to do to get blonde highlights in black hair is to completely dye your hair black. should be done in a rinse and not in a color which is permanent.

Comb your hair straight back after the rinse has been processed. Put on a highlight cap which resembles a swimmer's cap with the exception that it has small holes. Now pull small sections of the hair through the holes with a rat comb.

Keep your cap on and wash the hair that is pulled through the holes. Soak the pulled sections of hair in a clarifying shampoo and and rinse. Repeat the process.

Now you can apply the desired shade of blonde color to the exposed hair. Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully, process and then rinse out. Now you can remove the cap and apply conditioner to your hair.

With time the black rinse will fade from your hair and again you will have to rinse your hair black. The previously highlighted hair will be much lighter and it may even take a bluish or greenish tinge.
